This page offers a list of nonprofit organizations, housing assistance programs, rental support services, and emergency shelters available in Los Angeles County and Orange County. These programs provide support for low-income families, immigrants, refugees, and individuals experiencing homelessness, helping them find temporary or permanent housing solutions.

​Los Angeles County

  1. Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD)
    Offers programs such as the Low Income Purchase Assistance (LIPA) and Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) to assist first-time homebuyers. Additionally, provides services for low-income, disabled, elderly persons, and families with children. 

  2. Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA)
    Administers public housing and Section 8 programs, offering affordable housing options and rental assistance to low-income residents.

  3. Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA)
    Provides housing assistance, affordable rental housing, home improvement programs, and community development initiatives to support residents' housing needs.

  4. Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA)
    Coordinates housing and supportive services for individuals experiencing homelessness, including emergency shelters and transitional housing. 

  5. 211 LA County
    Offers comprehensive information and referrals for housing resources, including emergency shelters, rental assistance, and affordable housing options. 

Orange County

  1. Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA)
    Administers federally funded programs to provide rental assistance to qualified tenants in privately owned rental housing, primarily through the Housing Choice Voucher Program. 

  2. 211 Orange County (211OC)
    Provides assistance in finding new housing, rental deposit assistance, low-cost home rental listings, and housing search support.

  3. City of Irvine Housing Choice Voucher Program
    Assists lower-income households by covering the difference between affordable rent and market rent through the Housing Choice Voucher Program.

  4. City of Orange Affordable Housing Assistance
    Offers information on affordable housing rentals and collaborates with the Orange County Housing Authority to operate the Section 8 program for city residents. 

  5. City of Santa Ana Housing Authority
    Provides affordable housing for vulnerable community members, aiming to promote self-sufficiency and independence.
